Valachi stallion Zacinto (Dansili) bookended the programme last Saturday at Riccarton, with winning progeny Russian Fable (ex. Gorgie Porgie, by Entrepreneur) and Louie Louie (ex. Cremisi, by Royal Academy).
Trained on the course by Kevin & Pam Hughes, four-year-old mare Russian Fable raced handily before going on to lead at the 300m and kept going for three-kilo claiming apprentice Sanu Toolooa. Bred by Jo Wilding, who in recent times had Zacinto three-year-old filly Haveyouzeena win impressively in Victoria, and year younger sister Fiscal Fun win a debut trial at Cambridge, Russian Fable is owned by Nigel Babbage. Off the back of a notable third at Ashburton, Russian Fable paid $4.40 & $1.70 in the Maiden 1400 metres. She carries a Northern Dancer cross, and that of Special. It was also the 500th training success for Kevin Hughes.
