On 26 June at Riccarton, Zacinto (Dansili) progeny Russian Fable (ex. Gorgie Porgie, by Entrepeneur) and Louie Louie (ex. Cremisi, by Royal Academy) both won, with Louie Louie making it two in a row last Thursday at Ashburton.
Louie Louie had rounded out the day winning the Rating 65 1400 by five lengths, with Chris Johnson aboard, and despite being up in grade the pairing were equally impressive winning the Rating 74 1600 metres. From a midfield position, Johnson steered a path to the inside of runners as the field swung wide turning for home and Louie Louie stretched out for a seemingly effortless victory.
Bred and owned by Glenys Malone and Amanda Pascoe, trained by Steven Woodsford at Rangiora, the five-year-old gelding has won four from 12 and heads into the Grand National Carnival (Aug. 7, 11, 14) in great form.
